Description: The novel “Holes” by Louis Sachar is currently very popular with Years 7 and 8. A Character game and a Connect Four game have been devised to help students to memorize the characters of the novel.

Description: While studying nature, it is important to identify and label the various parts of plants. This game is a fun way to help students to identify the parts of a flower.

Polar Bear

Description: This information gap game is a fun way for pupils to gain knowledge of polar bears.

 

Learning Outcomes: Pupils will have gained knowledge of polar bears and gained skills in working together to complete a task.

Continental Drift

Description: This activity was developed to extend students knowledge of continents and also their referencing and atlas reading skills.

Energy and Sound Dominoes

Description: This dominoes activity is designed to consolidate the spelling and meanings of scientific vocabulary.

 

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to identify the different types of energy and sounds, and their meanings.

Doubling Cards

Description: Doubling Cards is a fun way for pupils to practise their mental arithmetic, either by doubling or halving numbers.

Learning Outcomes: Pupils will be able to mentally double and halves simple numbers without use of calculators.

Bigger or Smaller than Half

Description: Fractions can be quite daunting for some students, so this game has been devised to help them recognise the value of fractions in a fun way and to have a better understanding of how fractions represent a part of a whole. 

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to work out whether a fraction is more or less than a half.
